Project Manager or Localization Success Manager?

Project Manager or Localization Success Manager?

The language industry, which delivers translation and language technology to global businesses, is in the midst of the biggest transformation ever. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and new customer expectations have redefined the translator's role and the project manager's daily work.

At Comactiva Language Partner, each client has a dedicated project manager who is responsible for quality, process and delivery, but not only that, the project manager is also responsible for cost control, industry and linguistic expertise, language technology, follow-up and curation.

The title of Project Manager is no longer a fair representation of this great responsibility. We have therefore decided to rename our project managers. From now on they are a team of Localization Success Managers, to clearly show the value they create for our customers.

What Does a Localization Success Manager do?

Unlike the traditional project manager role, a Localization Success Manager takes on greater responsibility for the overall multilingual global communication of a company linked to language, translation and localization. This can involve everything from thorough analysis of needs, language technology, integrations with different systems, building translation and localization processes, curation of language data and monitoring of KPIs.

Key Responsibilities of a Localization Success Manager:

Customer contact: The Localization Success Manager is the primary contact person for clients, they understand their needs and requirements and thus  able to deliver tailor-made processes for localization.

Full responsibility: A Localization Success Manager is responsible for the full scope of a company's localization needs. This includes analyzing, planning and building processes as well as measuring results and optimizing over time.

Language technology and data curation: The Localization Success Manager is responsible for curating, integrations, translation memories, company-specific AI models and other language technology and data.

Project management: The responsibility for ongoing projects does not disappear with the new role; it is still a fundamental part of it, along with all the above mentioned responsibilities of a project manager.

The transformation of the language industry has led to a shift in focus from project-based work to measurable value-creating work.
