Language review
Language review of source and translated material
If you already have text written in the appropriate language, it may be worth ordering a language review to ensure the highest possible quality – or indeed to optimise the impact for the intended target group.
One of the services Comactiva offers is language review, which means we read through the material and make any necessary changes and adjustments based on the text’s objectives and target group. This is always done by an experienced language reviewer or linguist for each language.
Reviewing of source text
Sometimes, a language review is done in order to optimise the source text before it goes out for translation. A full review by Comactiva’s language experts raises the quality of the source language, and ensures that this quality is retained in the various target languages.
Part of the social media strategy
Social media posts, which are read by many people, may often need an extra quality check by an experienced linguist.
Needs vary, and language reviewing is therefore charged by the hour. With Comactiva you decide the level of the review, and we always offer a free introductory meeting to discuss your expectations. Comactiva also offers commercial translation and regulated translations.

Common questions about language review
-
Who performs the language review?
Language reviews are conducted by experienced translators and linguists. We have a wide network of translators around the world, and they always translate into and review texts in their mother tongue. They all live in the country where their language is spoken, which means they are culturally and linguistically up to date – as is the work they deliver.
-
How does a language review work?
We usually receive the source text in MS Word. This means we can deliver a file with the changes clearly tracked so you can see exactly what is different.
If we receive the material as a PDF file, we use the editing and commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat so that your layout people know what needs changing.
We can also carry out language reviews in Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign, although our approach will differ depending on your wishes and the limitations of each program.

What is good to know about language reviews?
In some cases, we recommend re-translating a text rather than performing a language review. If a text has been machine translated, for instance, we may recommend starting again from scratch rather than trying to make the best of a bad job. Ultimately this could not only be more cost effective, but will also improve the end result, because the reviewer is not restricted by the existing text but is free to write and formulate as they see best.
Requesting a quotation
Quotations are based on the amount of text, the format, the nature of the text and the languages it is to be translated into.To find out the cost and turnaround time for a translation project, we recommend including the text material. Please also tell us your required target languages, and we will be back in touch within one business day.
